After consolidating our operation in 2010, Business Back-Up now runs all its divisions from our Windsor based office.
  • It used to be essential to be located on a high street purely to attract a flow of candidates. For this reason we had offices in Maidenhead, Windsor and Uxbridge as well as a Search and Selection Division in central London. Although our branches were in private office suites and not at street level we still had to be accessible to allow candidates seeking work to locate our premises.

Since the innovation of Internet Recruitment, initial contact is now always by phone or email, therefore location is no longer an issue.

  • In fact the consolidation of our branches has proved to be very effective as our consultants are able to interact with more efficiency as ‘teamwork’ is an essential ingredient in our success.

Beware of agencies who shortcut service levels because of Internet recruitment.

  • Many candidates feel that searching the web is sufficient in finding a new role and don't feel the need to register in person with an agency. For fear of putting too much pressure on candidates and of losing them altogether, agencies are failing to insist on the face to face interview. As a result, clients are receiving CVs from agencies who have done nothing more than browse the web - as have the candidates. Their details and CVs are received by email and they are interviewed on the telephone.


  • Not only is the client not getting a true service, for which they are expected to pay a fee, but this lack of thorough interviewing makes it totally impossible to guarantee the true identity of the candidate or eligibility to work in the UK, thus potentially contravening the law.

Best practice, as suggested by REC and which should be the hallmark of all professional agencies, has therefore been threatened by the lack of direct candidate contact.

  • At Business Back-Up, we not only insist that all our candidates attend our offices for a full and thorough face to face interview, but we also only submit candidates who are suitable for the position in question, fully briefed on the company and who are keen to be considered for the role. If a candidate fails to attend an appointment with us, we deem them unreliable or not keen and withdraw them for fear that they will also prove unreliable for our client.
